What’s your big ‘trigger’?

Triggers are things that cause you to negatively react without thinking. “Mindfulness” is all about awareness – of self and of others.

Mindfulness is the nanosecond between “reacting” and “responding” and our “triggers” are our teachers.

There’s 1 key critical skill that can empower you to respond instead of react. Let me share my recent story to help you understand what it is:

Last week, I woke up to an insufficient funds notice in my personal checking account. I don’t keep a lot of money in there, just enough for my monthly expenses. I found that my new property management company had withdrawn my August rent without my authorization – and an entire week before rent is due. Fun way to wake up! 😀 I scrambled to move some funds into the account and immediately contested the charge with my bank.

Recognizing my money trigger, I then sat on the porch a few moments to gather myself, recenter, and check in to the next best step. I also did a little bit of mindset re-framing, B.S. (belief system) busting, and energy clearing.

I decided to email the property manager, who immediately apologized and stepped into action to try to correct things on her end. This all made me a little late for my 10am appointment in Raleigh, so I texted my client and asked for a 10:15am start.

I stopped by the chocolate/coffee shop on my way into see my client.  I decided to buy a chocolate bar for the parking lot attendant. The coffee shop discounted my order when they found out I was getting ready to perform a random act of kindness. So I gave them a really nice tip! 😉

I walked back out to the parking lot and the guy was looking at me a bit warily (I had just paid him and gone into the coffee shop) – but then I handed him the candy bar and he broke out in a huge smile and thanked me.

I could have allowed “what happened to me” that morning to impact my entire day. Without asking for the delayed start, I wouldn’t have had the time for my random act of kindness. But because of the 1 key critical skill that I’ve learned, I could.

Instead of sitting in an office at the co-working space for his session, my client and I walked around Raleigh and talked. When we returned to the space to see my 2nd client there, we passed him on his way out… he had forgotten about his session with me and was on his way to a lunch meeting. No problem, I told him, so he opened his office so I had somewhere to land.

Since I was now unscheduled for the next hour, Client #1 then introduced me to someone else at the co-working space. We had a wonderful chat about being soul-powered business owners and how we manage harmonizing our sacred calling with being completely present.

I could have allowed him forgetting about his session to annoy or anger me. But that 1 key critical skill freed me. PLUS I got to meet a wonderful soul-powered kindred spirit that I would never have met!

Now I’m sitting here writing this story to share with you before I head into a mastermind that I facilitate for Client #1, Client #2, and Client #3. I wonder what else is possible?! 🙂

The 1 key critical skill that frees you to see the possibilities

The more we can strengthen our agility skills, the more equipped we are to follow the clues, the lightness, and the inspired action… the more we are unattached to the outcome or when things catch us by surprise or when new opportunities present themselves to us, the more agile we are.

The Universe is infinite and therefore the possibilities for us are, too. All we have to do is connect to our calling and ideal life design, chose aligned action, and navigate unattached… trusting that the next path-stone will show itself to us.

Simple. Not always easy.

The key for me is having these tools to reset, realign, and bust the B.S. (belief systems) along the way.

And, oh! That issue with my money? The property manager arranged to cancel the transaction by the next day.

Easy Peasy, Fresh and Easy!
